The Assistant Instructor rating is the next step after becoming a Divemaster along the scuba instructor pathway. Start teaching beginners and assisting instructors with SSI divers.

As a Divemaster Instructor, you are qualified to issue the Science of Diving, Dive Guide, and Divemaster certifications.

Becoming an SSI Instructor Trainer is the ultimate accomplishment. Meet other SSI Instructors worldwide at the Instructor Training Seminar. SSI Instructor Trainers are qualified to teach the Instructor Training Course (ITC) and prepare ITC candidates for their Instructor Evaluation (IE). Instructor Trainers can also teach Specialty Instructor Seminars and the Assistant Instructor Trainer program.

To be certified as a Divemaster, complete Stress & Rescue, be current in first aid with the ability to administer emergency oxygen, have at least 50 logged dives, and complete the Dive Guide program.

After successful completion of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) you will enroll in an Instructor Evaluation (IE) to qualify as an SSI Open Water Instructor. This 10 day training program entitles you to teach various key SSI programs.

Assistant Instructor Trainers prepare Assistant Instructors to teach academics and conduct in-water training. As an Assistant Instructor Trainer, you are also qualified to assist Instructor Trainers, giving you valuable experience along your scuba diving instructor pathway. 

Become a Training Specialist and teach certain SSI specialties by simply purchasing the training materials and co-teaching that Specialty with an SSI Instructor.

Achieve four Specialty Instructor ratings, issue 15 Specialty certifications and you automatically upgrade to the Advanced Open Water Instructor. You are now qualified to teach the Snorkel Instructor program.

Once you are an Assistant Instructor Trainer, log a total of 250 dives and issue a total of 150 diver certifications in different programs to earn your Master Instructor rating.
